Burnley and Wigan are battling it out to sign highly-rated Norwich City goalkeeper Jon McCracken, Football Insider understands.

McCracken is currently in on trial at Championship side Wigan after enjoying a similar stint at Premier League outfit Burnley earlier this month.

A Burnley source has told Football Insider the club are keen to bring McCracken to Turf Moor and use him initially with their Under-23s, while a Wigan source explained they would be prepared to use him in the first-team squad as third or fourth-choice keeper.

McCracken was third-choice goalkeeper at Norwich last season and was part of the matchday squad travelling home and away with Daniel Farke's side.

HIs performances for Norwich in Premier League 2 have brought him to the attention of clubs north and south of the border as the possibility increases he will leave this summer.

McCracken joined the newly-promoted east Anglia side from Hamilton in 2016 and he is now ready to move this window in search of regular football.

The source added that Norwich are open to letting McCracken leave on a free transfer as the likelihood grows that he will switch before the window shuts next month.
