Campbell: Edouard's Celtic exit 'inevitable' after source's striker bid update

Kevin Campbell insists Odsonne Edouard will leave Celtic this summer but claimed his departure may harm Kyogo Furuhashi’s development.

The Arsenal icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, wants to see the Hoops keep Edouard to help his new strike partner get even better.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on Saturday (August 14th) that Nice are lining up a move for the Celtic striker and the latest from a Hoops source is that a bid is being submitted.

The 23-year-old’s contract expires at the end of this season.

As quoted by Glasgow Live on 11th August, Ange Postecoglou admitted there was a “concern” about cashing in on Edouard.

It is understood Celtic may have to accept less than £20million after slashing his price tag from £45million last summer.

Campbell still claims Celtic will be a lot weaker without Edouard.

“Here’s the thing, Edouard’s been touted everywhere,” Campbell told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think it will happen, it’s inevitable. If it doesn’t I think he can help his new strike partner a lot.

“He’s seen it, he’s done it. If you take him away, maybe they are a lot weaker.

“It will be interesting to see how that dynamic works, if he stays and if he goes.

“But I expect him to go before the window closes.”

Furuhashi’s Celtic career has exploded after he arrived from Vissel Kobe this summer.

He has now scored six goals in six games and helped to turn the club’s fortunes around after a slow start to the season.
