Kevin Campbell has claimed Lucas Ocampos can help solve a big problem at Leeds United if signed this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the 26-year-old could help share the burden of goals with Patrick Bamford, who the Whites have been “over-reliant” on this season.
Football Insider revealed last week that Leeds are keeping tabs on Sevilla attacker Ocampos ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international has contributed seven goals and four assists in 36 appearances this term.
Campbell, who who delivers weekly punditry for La Liga TV, believes Ocampos‘ goalscoring ability would be a major asset to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
“Bamford has done so well this season but they have been over-reliant on him for goals,” he told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs. “It’s a big problem for Leeds.
“They need a couple of players who can get in the region of 10 goals a season to help Bamford out.
“Ocampos, now he can score. The amount of chances they create, oh my word, he will have a field day.
“For all of the talent that the likes of Harrison, Raphinha and Harrison have, none of them are in double figures for the season.
“You cannot just rely on Bamford because when he gets injured, they will struggle.”
Bamford has scored 14 goals in 29 Premier League appearances this season.
Wingers Jack Harrison and Raphinha have scored the second most for Leeds in the 2020/21 campaign, with six goals apiece.
