Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier for his performances this season.
The former Arsenal and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed the 20-year-old has been “amazing” in his debut Premier League campaign.
Meslier made eight saves at Old Trafford on Sunday but his efforts were in vein as Leeds were beaten 6-2 by their bitter rivals – their heaviest defeat under Marcelo Bielsa.
Only West Brom’s Sam Johnstone (63) has made more saves than the Frenchman (56) in the Premier League this season.
Campbell claimed Meslier will continue to be one of the busiest goalkeepers in the division.
“I am a huge fan of Meslier’s,” he told Football Insider. “I really think he is amazing.
“Leeds got exposed at Old Trafford but he still pulled off some top saves.
“He will be busy this season because when you play against Leeds you think, ‘We are going to have chances here.’
“United did their homework at the weekend and it proved to be significant. They got exposed and let’s be honest, it was a bit of a drubbing.
“You do not want to take too many of them over the course of a season.”
Speaking on Meslier earlier this month, Bielsa said: “Evidently, they say one of the virtues of a good goalkeeper is to have a bad memory.
“To be able to forget the moments of adversity and continue playing.”
