Campbell makes 'crazy' Tottenham claim as Conte makes up mind on Ndombele and big-name teammate

Kevin Campbell fears Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele will struggle under new Tottenham manager Antonio Conte.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker cited the “very intense” and “particular” demands Conte puts on his players as reasons why.

Alli has not played a single minute of football since Spurs announced their new manager on November 2nd.

Ndombele has featured as a late substitute in Conte’s first two games.

The Italian manager has decided to adopt a 3-4-3 formation since arriving to north London.

When asked by Football Insider if the set-up was bad news for Alli and Ndombele, Campbell said: “Alli is a number 10.

“That is not a position in this Conte team. I’m not sure how it is going to go for him.

“There has been crazy thoughts about Ndombele and Alli. At some stage both players were supposedly heading out of the club. The next minute they are in the team again.

“Will they be able to do what Conte wants? And how he wants it? I’m not sure. Conte is very intense and particular in the way he wants things done. We are going to find out but the initial signs don’t look great for them.

“Everyone thinks this transition is going to be seamless but it won’t be. This is a tough ask.

“A new manager has come for the second time in six months. These players are constantly being asked to do different things. They will be learning different stuff again. The transition will take time.”
