Conte 'not fully on board' at Tottenham as Levy shredded after £34m 'mistake' - pundit

Kevin Campbell fears Tottenham manager Antonio Conte “is not fully on board”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Premier League striker said the fact the 52-year-old only signed an 18-month deal”is a big problem”.

Tottenham appointed the Italian manager on a contract until the end of June 2023.

According to the Daily Mail (November 6th), Spurs have made Conte the third highest paid manager in Europe on a contract worth £20million over 18 months.

It comes after The Sun reported Nuno Espirito Santo will receive a £14m pay-off from Spurs after his dismissal.

Campbell pointed the finger at Levy for what will be a £34million payment to managers over the space of two seasons.

“It is an expensive mistake from Levy,” he told Football Insider.

“If you don’t get it right, then you have to try and clean it up very quickly. That is what Spurs have tried to do. This is the third manager Spurs have had this year.

“The worrying thing for me is the fact Conte has only signed for 18 months. That is a big problem to me.

“If I am a player, I’m thinking, ‘Ok, I know you are a winner but you might not be here in just over a years time.’ That is tough.

“It tells me that Conte is not fully on board. I don’t think he is. A manager would normally want three years at least.

“That is how long he needs to change that team around. We’ll blink and this season will be over. Conte will only really have a year to sort this Spurs team out. It is not right. Something is not right.”
