Campbell slams 'crazy' Celtic board after Christie reveal via Athletic
Kevin Campbell cannot believe Celtic have allowed Ryan Christie to run his contract down.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the situation is a byproduct of the club’s poor management over the past 12 months.
It is understood that the 26-year-old’s contract expires at the end of January, rather than next summer as is usually the case with long-term deals.
According to The Athletic‘s Kieran Devlin (2 August), the winger is likely to leave in this window rather than extend his stay at Parkhead.
Burnley and Leicester City are said to have shown interest but neither have made a concrete offer as of yet.
As quoted by The Scottish Sun (25th July), Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou revealed he “would love” Christie to remain at the club.

When asked for his assessment of Christie’s future, Campbell told Football Insider assistant editor Dylan Childs:
“Oh my word, somebody has dropped the ball big time here because he is still young.
“When you make poor, rash decisions about managers it does not help this kind of situation.
“You have got to tie up your talent. It is an absolute must. Celtic have failed to do that and now Christie has all the power in his hands.
“He only has a few months until Christmas and then he can move on and he will probably get offered a contract that Celtic can’t compete with. It’s crazy.”
