Campbell thrilled for Man United fans after 'absolutely brilliant' news from Times
Kevin Campbell is thrilled to hear Man United are one of five English clubs opting in to safe-standing.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said the “brilliant news” will take the Premier League “to another level”.
As reported by The Times‘ Martyn Ziegler (November 1st), United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City and Cardiff City have all committed to providing safe-standing for home and away fans.
It has been more than 25 years since fans were allowed to stand in football stadiums in England.
However, there will be changes to the previous standing arrangements that existed in English football.
Ziegler revealed how barriers or rails will be put in place to prevent “progressive crowd collapse”.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the news, Campbell said: “It’s absolutely brilliant news.
“The all-seater stadiums have been fine and they have served their purpose.
“But, the Premier League, as a product, will go to another level with the introduction of safe standing. I really believe that.
“The atmosphere will be so much better, especially with all of these lockdowns. To have fans standing and singing will be great for football in general. Let’s hope most clubs follow suit.”
Speaking on the issue in April 2020, United managing director Richard Arnold said: “Our belief is that the introduction of barrier seats will enhance spectator safety in areas of the stadium where – as with other clubs – we have seen examples of persistent standing.
“It also allows us to future-proof the stadium in the event of any changes to the current all-seater stadium policy.”
