Campbell: 'Time is up' for Alioski at Leeds after Source's update

Kevin Campbell expects today to be the last day of Ezgjan Alioski’s Leeds United career.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker claimed the imminent arrival of Junior Firpo from Barcelona is bad news for the 29-year-old.

The latest from a Leeds source is that Firpo is close to sealing a £12.8million move to Elland Road, with a medical now pencilled in for the left-back.

Alioski was Marcelo Bielsa’s first-choice left-back for the majority of the 2020-21 campaign despite being a winger by trade.

He is set to become a free agent tomorrow upon the expiration his current deal with Leeds.

The Yorkshire club have made two contract offers to the North Macedonia international but he is yet to accept amid interest from multiple European sides.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the deal for Firpo will effect Alioski’s decision making, Campbell said: “It can go one of two ways.

“It will either kick him on to sign a new contract and fight for his place or he more likely will go, ‘Right, I’m off.’

“I know he is not a left-back but that was his slot, let’s be honest.

If I am Firpo, I am coming to Leeds to play every week so it would suggest to me that Alioski’s time is up.

“The club have waited and waited and waited. He had a decent Euros as well so he probably feels he can move on.”
