Kevin Campbell has suggested Raphinha will only leave Leeds United if there is the promise of game time at a new club.
The former striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 24-year-old could end up warming the bench for Manchester City or Liverpool.
As revealed by Football Insider earlier this year, the Reds are plotting a summer raid for Raphinha after he blew scouts from Anfield away.
Meanwhile, Brazilian outlet UOL Esportes claim City are also considering a move for the tricky winger.
Campbell admitted Raphinha had proven himself as an “incredibly talented” player at Elland Road.
However, he suggested a move would only come about with the promise of regular action at a new club.
Asked if the likes of Liverpool and City could lure Raphinha from Elland Road, Campbell told Football Insider’s Dylan Childs: “I think they can if he’s going to be playing.
“A lot of the bigger clubs might want him but the possibility of him playing is very, very low.
“What’s the point of going to sit on a bench somewhere? It makes no sense.
“The fact of the matter is he will get an opportunity to play at Leeds. You’d like to think he will go where the appearances are as opposed to going where the money is.
“He could easily find himself sitting on the bench at Liverpool or City even though he is an incredibly talented player.”
Raphinha joined Leeds for a reported £17million from Rennes last summer.
He scored six goals and contributed nine assists in 30 league games for the Whites.
