Campbell 'wowed' by Aubameyang transformation after 'incredible' Arsenal details emerge
Kevin Campbell has noticed an “incredible” improvement in Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite said the 32-year-old’s “all-round” performance in the north London derby was better than anything he’d previously seen.
Aubameyang scored in a 3-1 victory over Tottenham on Sunday but it was his defensive stats that were particularly impressive.
The Gunners captain made more blocks than any other Arsenal player in the match (4), as well as the second most presses (20) and tackles (3). (fbref)
Campbell claimed Aubameyang “owed” his performance to the fans after being dropped for punctuality in the same fixture last season.
“Aubameyang was incredible,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He was a force. It was a captain’s performance, it really was.
“He is the best striker Arsenal have got but his all round game has not always been there. That was a great all-round performance on Sunday. A big improvement from the striker we saw at the start of the season.
“In this fixture last year he was late and got dropped. As captain, he owed the fans and himself that performance.
“I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never seen his all-round game as good as that on Sunday. He was winning headers against Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez, he was running the channels, pressing and the goal… Wow.
“I just thought it was a sensational performance.”
