The return of Tom Rogic to the Celtic squad for the Scottish Cup tie against Partick Thistle was a welcome sight to all supporters of the Parkhead club.
Unfortunately for the Hoops fans the Australian was unable to make his long-awaited comeback on the pitch as Partick scored late on to set up a tense finale to the match and as a result Rogic was not able to get on and earn some minutes.
However, the Hoops are soon in action again, this time in their Europa League last 32 first leg clash against Russian side Zenit – so could this be the game that Rogic finally makes his long-awaited return?
Involving Rogic would certainly be a gamble, as he hasn’t played since he was forced off after only 45 minutes of the Bhoys’ last Champions League group stage match against Anderlecht in December.
However, it may well be a gamble worth taking, as Rogic possesses a guile and quality of movement that very few players in the Scottish Premiership have.
His ability to glide past players is also unmatched, as was demonstrated in his Scottish Cup final winning goal against Aberdeen.
Starting the 25-year-old after so many months out may be a step too far, but there is no doubt that if possible Rogic should have a role to play in the match.
