Thanks to a James Forrest hat-trick Celtic may have progressed to the last eight of the Scottish Cup with a 3-2 win over Partick, but supporters were left horrified by Jozo Simunovic’s performance in the game.
The Bosnian centre-back was back in the side after being left out of the game against Kilmarnock, but his performance has only left more questions than answers about his future at Celtic Park.
He was woefully short with a backpass to goalkeeper Dorus de Vries which allowed Kris Doolan to score for the Jags’ first goal, then he was bullied and easily turned by Conor Sammon for Thistle’s second.
Simunovic was previously dropped from the Hoops side after a dreadful performance in the 4-0 defeat to Hearts in December.
With Jack Hendry available for the Europa League game against Zenit on Thursday it seems likely that he will partner Kristoffer Ajer at the back for the Hoops in the match, as Simunovic just isn’t playing well enough to merit a place in the starting line-up.
With Marvin Compper also on the books and Dedryck Boyata to return from injury, it would not come as a surprise if Simuovic moved to pastures new in the summer, as his days in Glasgow look to be numbered with performances like this..
