Carter-Vickers could be 'huge' for Celtic after what I've just heard from people at the club - McAvennie
Frank McAvennie was left impressed after hearing about Cameron Carter-Vickers’ Celtic debut.
The Parkhead icon, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted as the loanee was thrown in from the off against Ross County at the weekend.
Carter-Vickers opened the scoring with a deflected long-range effort that looped over the keeper.
The Hoops went on to win 3-0 as the defender kept a clean sheet on his first outing for his new side.
He moved to Parkhead on loan from Tottenham during the final hours of deadline day.
McAvennie was left impressed with the defender but wants to see how he does against better opponents.

“I’ve not been well so I couldn’t make it to the game,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I was in contact with a few Celtic people at the game and I heard from them. They were saying Carter-Vickers was massive at the back, a big rock.
“He brought a shape to the defence, a solidity. Keeping a clean sheet is always a good thing and apparently he was a big part of that.
“The goal was pretty lucky but if you don’t shoot you don’t score so fair play to the boy. It sounds like a brilliant debut by all accounts.
“We need a player like him, he could be huge for us.
“It was a pretty easy test though, I’m interested to see what happens when he comes up against better sides.”
Celtic are next in action against Real Betis in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Postecoglou could call on Carter-Vickers once again after his impressive debut.
