Celtic backed to complete striker signing after Kyogo Furuhashi latest - McAvennie

Frank McAvennie has insisted Celtic will sign another striker this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Hoops striker said Ange Postecoglou has got to address the team’s inability to convert their chances.

As revealed by UEFA (2 November), the Celts had 82 attempts on goal during the course of their Champions League campaign.

Of those attempts, 29 were on target but the Green and Whites only managed to convert four of them.

Kyogo Furuhashi failed to score in any of the Parkhead club’s six Champions League games whilst Giorgios Giakoumakis only found the back of the net once in the competition.

McAvennie insisted the Hoops need to sign a striker to address these problems and help Giakoumakis and Kyogo.

I think they are going to bring in a striker,” he told Football Insider.

Giakoumakis is missing a lot of chances, they have got to address that. The manager is not going to go into next season’s campaign and miss the amount of chances we have missed.

No matter how much he likes the boys that are playing, the fans are all saying the same thing. Everyone likes Giakoumakis and Kyogo but we need a decent striker. If that was the case we would have been through.

If they gets a top striker in beside them, watching him train everyday, someone who is a top goalscorer, it will be a benefit to Giakoumakis and Kyogo.
