Celtic backed to seal deal for Cameron Carter-Vickers ally after source's reveal - pundit
Kevin Campbell has backed Celtic to strengthen their defence in the January transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker said Ange Postecoglou’s side “cannot rest on their laurels” after an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign.
The Hoops have identified central defence as a position to strengthen in when the transfer window re-opens.
Sources have told Football Insider (6 November) that the club have agreed personal terms with Vissel Kobe defender Yuki Kobayashi.
Kobayashi‘s current deal in Japan expires at the end of January.
The 22-year-old is on the brink of becoming the fifth Japanese signing of the Ange Postecoglou era.

When asked by Football Insider if another centre-half was needed at Celtic Park, Campbell said: “You have to keep on it.
“You cannot rest on your laurels. Celtic need to start thinking about next season in January.
“When they were without [Cameron] Carter-Vickers they looked a bit light back there. Perhaps they need somebody else who is capable of stepping in.
“You always have to think about where you can strengthen. That is really important. It is good thinking from Celtic to get someone lined up ahead of January.”
Celtic have conceded 11 goals in their last five outings across all competitions.
They have been knocked out of the Champions League but sit top of the Scottish Premiership table.
