Paddy Kenny tells Postecoglou to take 'huge decision' on Barkas for Celtic showdown
Ange Postecoglou must take Vasilis Barkas out of the firing line against FC Midtjylland or “things could get messy” for Celtic.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of tonight’s (28th July) crucial Champions League qualifier.
Barkas started the first leg but was at fault for the Danish champions’ free-kick goal in the 1-1 draw at Parkhead.
The 13-cap Greece international followed that up with a positioning blunder against West Ham in a 6-2 friendly defeat last Saturday.
And Kenny claims that the under-fire goalkeeper should be dropped for tonight’s make-or-break clash in Jutland.
“His form has continued from last season now,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“If you are going to make mistakes, pre-season is the time to make them. But because it’s continued from last year, he is under massive pressure to perform.
“So you would be better taking him out of the firing line and trying to build some confidence before you put him back in.
“He’s already started like this in pre-season and things could get messy when the [domestic] season starts.
“That is the last thing that not only the club wants but the player as well because it’s a massive season for Celtic.
“It’s up to the manager but I’m sure he’ll be considering taking him out of the firing line. It’s a huge decision but it’s pressure bubble at Celtic.”
