Celtic 'desperate' to cash in on Edouard after Sky's huge windfall reveal - pundit
Alan Hutton has claimed Celtic will be “desperate” to seal a big-money deal for Odsonne Edouard amid reported interest from Brighton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Bhoys need funds quickly to reinvest in the squad.
The Express (July 18th) claim Brighton are set to put some of the £50million from Ben White’s prospective sale to Arsenal towards trying to sign Edouard.
Sky Sports report (July 19th) a £50million deal has been agreed between the Seagulls and the Gunners for White.
Edouard is out of contract next summer and appears likely to follow Kristoffer Ajer out of Parkhead.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (July 21st) Celtic agreed to sell the defender to Brentford for an initial £13.5million rising to £17.5million with add-ons.

Hutton suggested Celtic would be keen to get Edouard out to build more funds to reinvest in the squad.
Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “It’s an interesting one. Obviously, Brighton will have money to spend but they won’t be daft.
“People in charge will know exactly what teams are thinking. They’ll come with that train of thought.
“They’ll have a price in mind if they’re if they want to get Edouard, who I think is an exceptional player. He’ll probably go on to become even better so they’re getting a lot of potential there.
“He’s a proven goalscorer at under-21 level with France and up here in Scotland. I think it’s a good gamble but I don’t think they’ll pay over the odds. That’s the bottom line.
“Celtic will have a figure, Brighton will have a figure and they’ll probably meet somewhere in the middle.
“I think, along with Ajer, it’s about trying to get that money back in and then reinvest. They desperately need that and they need it quick.”
