Whelan: Two Celtic stars have played their last games for the club
Kristoffer Ajer and Olivier Ntcham will soon exit Celtic after being omitted from Ange Postecoglou’s first competitive matchday squad.
So says ex-Scottish Premiership forward Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Celtic’s 1-1 draw with FC Midtjylland last night (20th July).
Uefa confirmed via their website ahead of kick-off that both players had been left out of the squad for the Champions League qualifier.
This site revealed today that Celtic have agreed to sell Ajer to Brentford in a deal worth £17.5million in total.
The pair signed for Celtic within six months of each other and have a year remaining on their Parkhead contracts.
Whelan claims that their omission from the matchday squad means the end of their Celtic careers is looming on the horizon.

He told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs: “The writing is on the wall for those two players, and rightly so.
“I like the fact that the manager has done this straight away knowing that these two players didn’t want to be there last season and still don’t.
“There’s obviously a deal going on behind the scenes that means they don’t want to be either cup tied or risk injury.
“You’ve got to take that into consideration. So they’re not involved in the squad, and I like that. It’s a tough call by the manager but it’s the right one.“
Ajer played 44 times for Celtic as they relinquished their grip on the Scottish Premiership last season.
Ntcham, who was also signed by former boss Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile spent the second half of the campaign on an ill-fated loan spell with Marseille.
