Celtic encouraged to agree Felix Horn Myhre transfer as new exit comments emerge

Celtic could accelerate a move to sign Brann midfielder Felix Horn Myhre after he admitted that he expects to leave the Norwegian club this summer.

The Hoops are in the market for several midfield signings this summer as a number of their own stars are linked with moves away.

Myhre was linked with a move to Parkhead in January but remained at Brann to help them reach the Europa League play-off stage.

He has now opened up on previous links away from the Eliteserien side and admitted that he could depart in the coming months.

Celtic’s transfer priority may be about to change to focus on signing Myhre as he continues to impress in Norway and reaches what should be his peak.

Felix Horn Myhre would be a solid signing for Celtic and is expecting a move away from Brann

Myhre has been key to Brann’s rise from the second tier of Norwegian football to the upper echelons of the Eliteserien since he joined the club in 2021.

The elegant attack-minded midfielder has scored at least six goals in each of his four full seasons with Brann and is widely regarded as one of the best in his position in the country.

Myhre has scored twice in seven games for Norway since his international debut in 2024 too, and his impressively consistent form has seen Celtic mooted with a move in recent months.

Tipsbladet claimed in January that the Hoops were interested in signing him for around £2.6million, but a move never materialised as they went on to win the Premiership under Martin O’Neill.

The 27-year-old’s recent interview with Adresseavisen means he looks to be open to a move away from Brann this summer, as he said: ”I want to try something new at some point, but not at any cost. If something exciting comes along, I might want to.

“If not, I’m fine here. I think it will (happen this summer). I actually expect it. I have to deal with it when it comes.”

Myhre is clearly assessing his options, and Celtic have been encouraged that he could be keen to move to Parkhead to play in the Champions League next season.

Reo Hatate is the most likely candidate to depart after struggling to nail down a place in O’Neill’s starting eleven towards the end of the recent season.

Benjamin Nygren and Arne Engels were both key to the Hoops’ domestic double triumph and have each been linked with big-money moves away to Premier League clubs.

Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Celtic are accelerating plans to sign a midfielder in the coming weeks, as exits are likely, and Myhre could be a top target now that he has signalled his intentions.
