Celtic fans react on Twitter after drawing Rangers in the Scottish Cup

By Harvey Byrne

Celtic fans on Twitter have welcomed the draw of fierce rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final.

Brendan Rodgers’ team ensured their passage on Sunday afternoon with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Championship side St. Mirren.

The Ibrox club also made their way through in comfortable fashion as they thrashed Hamilton 6-0 on Saturday and it was confirmed on Sunday that the Old Firm rivals would now face each other at Hampden.

Celtic have already achieved three victories over their managerless Glaswegian rivals this campaign with another encounter coming up on Sunday.

Previous results have clearly played a part in helping Hoops fans make up their minds over the draw and many on social media are now optimistic that they will make it to the final.

Celtic will now be hoping to make it five wins from five for the season.

However, it must not be forgotten that Rangers knocked the Hoops out on penalties at the same stage of the cup in the last campaign, while they will also be looking to win their first Scottish Cup since 2009.
