Celtic have multiple alternative targets lined up amid Starfelt update - Kenny
Celtic will have multiple alternative targets “ready to go” in case the deal for Carl Starfelt collapses because of work permit red tape.
So says ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old Swedish centre-back.
This site revealed on 14th July that Celtic had a £4.3m bid accepted by Rubin Kazan for Starfelt and that he was set to undergo an overseas medical.
The Daily Record reported on 18th July that he had passed this medical and is now waiting for approval for his work visa application.
Starfelt is under contract with Rubin Kazan until 2024.
Kenny speculates that Celtic will have other centre-backs in the crosshairs if the deal falls through.

“You’d like to think they have other targets ready to go,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“Obviously he has to get the work permit and they don’t know where they stand. We know how strict they are.
“The club will be hoping that the deal comes off and that they’ve got everything in place.
“But if it doesn’t come off, you’d think they have other personnel lined up to bring in.
“They are running out of time because the season is nearly upon us. You don’t want to be scurrying around at the last minute.
“That way you end up rushing and then paying over the odds or not getting the targets you’ve wanted.”
As a three-time Sweden international, Starfelt is likely to accrue enough points to be granted a work permit.
Celtic centre-back Kristoffer Ajer has passed his medical and is set to join Brentford in a deal worth £18m in total, as revealed by this site earlier today (21st July).
