Celtic: Keith Wyness tips Benjamin Nygren to make Valencia move after ‘speaking to sources’
Celtic star Benjamin Nygren could be making a summer switch to La Liga, according to Keith Wyness.
Wyness, who has previously been chief executive at Aberdeen, told Football Insider that he has heard of interest from Valencia in Nygren.
The 24-year-old is being tracked by Premier League and European clubs thanks to his fantastic debut season in Scottish football, and could be sold if a suitable offer arrives for him this summer.
Celtic have no desire to let Nygren leave the club after only one season, but the club are at risk of failing to qualify for the Champions League.
There is expected to be a huge squad rebuild at Celtic this summer, and the club see Nygren as an important part of their plans.

Aberdeen’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004, had lengthy spells as the chief of Everton and Aston Villa and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Tottenham could still sign Nygren even if they suffer relegation to the Championship.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness though thinks the Sweden international’s style of play would be a better fit in Spain than England.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Spurs is a name that’s been cropping up and of course that will depend on where they’re going to go.
“Even if they went to the Championship, Nygren could still be on Championship wages and probably earning more than he is at Celtic. I wouldn’t rule that one out either way.
“There’s been talk of Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Brighton. But in my opinion, from my sources I’ve spoken to, Valencia is the one where I think he may end up.
“That’s the gossip I’ve been hearing. The Premier League may be a little bit of a stretch for him. In Spain, I think he’d do better, and he’s better placed with his style in La Liga.”
Celtic need to make decision on midfielder’s future
One player that Celtic’s interim manager, Martin O’Neill, wants the club to keep next season is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Sources have told Football Insider that O’Neill is urging Celtic to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain in Glasgow, and offer him a new deal when his current contract expires at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old was signed as a free agent in February, and has impressed O’Neill with his influence around the club.
Oxlade-Chamberlain’s future will likely continue to be uncertain until a new permanent manager is appointed, with Robbie Keane currently in pole position for the job.
