Pundit touts behind-scenes Celtic turmoil after 'weird' Ntcham development
Something must have “gone wrong” behind the scenes for Celtic to terminate Olivier Ntcham’s contract.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively after Football Insider revealed last Saturday that the Hoops have scrapped the midfielder’s deal a year early.
This site understands that Newcastle United are now eyeing the soon-to-be free agent ahead of a summer swoop.
The 25-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan in Marseille and the French side had the option to sign him for £4.5million.
But after making just six appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, Ntcham will be searching for a new club over the summer as neither Celtic nor Marseille see a future for him.
Kenny insists that there is more to the saga than meets the eye, citing behind-scenes turmoil as the only explanation.

“It’s a weird one,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“I find that very strange looking at it from the perspective of money. There must be something behind the scenes that’s gone wrong.
“It’s costing them on two counts because they are losing a player and losing out on a fee too. Something must have happened that we don’t know about.
“Have they all agreed to cut their losses and move on? It’s a really strange decision.”
Ntcham signed for Celtic from Man City in July 2017, the Hoops paying £4.5m for his services.
The Frenchman has turned out 147 times for the Glasgow giants, scoring 24 goals.
