Celtic may accept lower fee for Edouard after major update - Mills

Danny Mills has claimed Celtic may accept a bargain fee for Odsonne Edouard this month amid fears he could become a "disruptive" figure if he remains.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Man City and England defender suggested the 23-year-old is surplus to requirements at Parkhead given the success of summer signing Kyogo Furuhashi.

Edouard has been the subject of interest from clubs across Europe with less than 12 months left on his contract at Celtic.

The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has contributed three goals and two assists in nine appearances this season.

When asked by Football Insider's Connor Whitley for his assessment of Edouard's future, Mills said:

"I think the fact that he is no longer a regular starter and other signings have been bedded in suggests that he will be allowed to leave.

"It might be a case of Celtic taking whatever they can get and just letting him go.

"I'm sure they'll try and hold out for as much as possible but if they can't get him off the books there is a chance he could become disruptive, especially if he is on the bench or in and out of the squad. Sometimes for the good of the club and the rest of the players it is best to just move the player on.

"If you're integral to the club you have more power but if you're suddenly not needed all of that power diminishes very quickly."
