Celtic news: Tottenham inundated with Cameron Carter-Vickers offers as race hots up - pundit
Celtic will be “desperate” to seal a £6million deal for on-loan defender Cameron Carter-Vickers in the face of rival offers, according to Alan Hutton.
The former Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old will be a target for other sides after impressing this season.
According to the Daily Record (4 April), talks are underway between Celtic and Tottenham over a deal for Carter-Vickers, with a fee of £6million – rising to £10million with add-ons – mooted.
The report claims Wolves, Burnley, and Leicester are chasing the centre-back – but the player’s camp believes Celtic is the best destination in order to go to the “next level” in his development.
Carter-Vickers has made 39 appearances for Celtic since joining the club on loan last summer (2021) – missing just two league games.
Hutton conceded his initial feelings about the United States international were wrong after admitting he had questioned the signing.

“I think Celtic will be desperate to tie him down this summer,” he told Football Insider‘s Russell Edge.
“He’s come in and shown his quality. There were question marks over him when he came in, and I was among those not sure about him.
“But fair play to him, he’s come in and had a run of games. He looks confident.
“However, I do think there will be other teams watching him and making enquiries to Tottenham about what sort of fee they would be after.
“I don’t think the £6million fee, especially if Celtic get into the Champions League, will be out of their budget.
“If you are to move forward and keep progressing, they will want to keep hold of an asset like him.”
