Celtic are considering a move for Dutch side Willem II’s utility man Elmo Lieftink, according to a report.
Football news site KickOff.co.uk claims that the Bhoys are pondering a swoop, after the 24-year-old impressed watching Hoops scouts last season.
The Dutchman made 24 appearances for his team last season scoring one goal, mostly playing in a defensive midfield or centre-back role, as the 6ft Dutchman helped his side to a 13th placed finish in the Eredivisie.

This would certainly be an intriguing signing if it happens. The Hoops don’t really have any utility players in their squad, aside from Nir Bitton. Perhaps Bitton’s run of injuries will tempt Brendan Rodgers to make a move for the player. You would imagine that he wouldn’t be that expensive, as a mid-table Dutch side aren’t exactly the richest clubs in the worlds. If Lieftink did move to the Hoops, you would imagine that he would be used as more of a centre-back, as they are so many midfielders at the club already. Perhaps he is just one of the many players who have impressed the Hoops scouts in recent weeks and months, and Rodgers is thinking over a move for the player. But fans will probably be underwhelmed, as he isn’t the type of player who will take the Hoops further in Europe, which is the goal for next season.
