Celtic ready Milan Vitalis move after feedback from scouts

Celtic are readying a move for Gyor midfielder Milan Vitalis after keeping tabs on him in recent months, sources have told Football Insider.

The Bhoys have been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old’s progress over in Hungary, and have had scouts watching him on several occasions.

The Hungary international is seen as a player with “real potential” to improve in the coming years, and sources say that the Bhoys view him as someone who could make an immediate impact at Parkhead.

Vitalis notched nine goals and four assists to help Gyor to an unprecedented league title in the Hungarian top flight this term, as they stunned Ferencvaros to claim the top spot.

Celtic want to add to their midfield this summer, and they have already identified Vitalis as a player who could be an ideal fit for them.

Celtic set to face battle to sign Milan Vitalis

Vitalis has enjoyed a breakthrough season in his career this term, as he ended the year as Gyor’s second-highest goalscorer in the league despite playing in the centre of the pitch.

His performances helped Gyor to claim their first league title since 2013, and also saw the star gain recognition on the international stage for the first time at senior level.

Vitalis turned out for Hungary on six occasions over the course of the season, but is now facing an empty summer after they failed to qualify for the World Cup.

His displays have also seen him gain admirers from across Europe, with Scottish Premiership sides Rangers and Aberdeen also keeping a keen eye on him, as well as Celtic.

The pair look set to go head-to-head for his signature this summer, with the Bhoys keen to make him part of a drastic overhaul in their group ahead of next term.

Bhoys have issue to overcome for Vitalis signing

Former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that Celtic will find it difficult to bring in new players until their next permanent manager is in place.

He suggested that the Bhoys should be waiting until they have their new man through the door before signing off on any of their planned additions, to ensure that they do not risk signing players that the manager doesn’t want.

That has created an issue for them to overcome in the race to sign Vitalis, as it could leave them effectively unable to complete any business in the early stages of the summer.

Robbie Keane has now emerged as the leading candidate to take the reins at Celtic Park for next term, and the club hierarchy will be keen to act swiftly to ensure that they can move on to the rest of their summer plans.
