Pundit tips 'massive' Celtic fight Celtic amid Juranovic transfer update

There will be a “massive battle” for the right-back spot at Celtic if Josip Juranovic signs this summer.

So says ex-Rangers right-back Alan Hutton, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old who starred for Croatia at the Euros

A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club have submitted a new bid of over £2million for the Legia Warsaw man.

Anthony Ralston is currently the only right-back on the books at Parkhead and he has enjoyed a stellar start to the 2021-22 campaign.

And Hutton claims that Juranovic will provide welcome competition for the 22-year-old on the right of the defence.

He told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “He’s an international player. He’s quality on the ball and quality getting up and down the pitch.

“He will make things happen, we saw that at the Euros. He’s a great pedigree of player and the sort who needs to come in as competition for Ralston.

“We need to give Ralston a shout-out because he has been excellent. There was a lot of pressure put on his shoulders from the media side of things, people saying he wasn’t good enough.

“He has answered a lot of those critics. It shows you the mentality of the player to take that on board and then go and show us how good he can be.

“For somebody of the quality of Juranovic to come in, it will be a massive battle between them.

“Ralston’s got the shirt at the moment but he’s going to have a lot of competition there.
