Celtic tipped to accept £12m Ajer bid after agent reveal
Alex McLeish has tipped Celtic to accept a £12million bid for Kristoffer Ajer despite his £15million asking price.
The former Scotland manager, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the Hoops needed to be “realistic” in their demands for the 23-year-old.
As revealed by Football Insider on Thursday (July 8th), Celtic have issued a £15million mandate to agents as they look to secure top dollar for Ajer.
The centre-back is wanted by Norwich City, who have had bids rejected but are set to table an improved offer, and Bayer Leverkusen.
With one year left on the defender’s contract, McLeish suggested Celtic could accept a cut-price deal.
Asked if he thought Celtic would consider selling for £12million, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “No doubt, no doubt.

“We’ve frequently been talking about £15million, £20million for players from Rangers and Celtic but that’s not our market.
“You have to be realistic and Ajer would probably go for that kind of money. Celtic would probably accept that kind of money.
“If the player is not happy, then there’s definitely got to be something sorted between them.”
Ajer has already spoken out about how he expects to leave Parkhead this summer.
The Norway international has made 176 appearances for the Hoops since joining as a teenager in 2016.
He played 46 times across all competitions last term, with two goals under his belt.
