Celtic will be on the hunt for a new goalkeeper following Vasilis Barkas' performance against FC Midtjylland.

That is the view of former Tottenham and Leeds United number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 27-year-old's performance at Celtic Park.

Ange Postecoglou's side drew 1-1 with FC Midtjylland last night in the first leg of their second round Champions League qualifier.

Barkas has been widely criticised for his failure to save Evander's equaliser just after the hour mark.

The Greece international has so far failed to justify the £4.5million Celtic paid AEK Athens for his services last year.

Robinson claimed the club should take a loss on Barkas and sign a new number one.

"Barkas had a really poor season last year," he told Football Insider's Dylan Childs.

"A mistake like that last night and the criticism that has followed, it is going to be difficult for him again. He is already on the back foot going into the season.

"Barkas wasn't good enough last year and Bain wasn't good enough last year. They have not replaced Fraser Forster.

"If they have any chance of winning the title next year they need a new goalkeeper. You need a top goalkeeper to play in big games.

"It is an area I think they will look to strengthen in before the season starts.

"They paid a lot of money for Barkas last season but I think they need to take a hit on him, move on and get somebody else in."
