Celtic expected to sign Christie replacement 'ASAP' after latest - Kenny

Celtic will look to sign a replacement for Ryan Christie “as soon as possible”.

So says ex-Premier League shot-stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old Hoops midfielder.

As per the Scotsman on 8 August, Ange Postecoglou claimed he would “love” to see Christie remain at Celtic but that he is the “master of his future”.

The Scottish Sun reported the same day that Celtic have held fresh talks with the Scotland international but a formal offer is yet to be submitted.

Christie’s contract expires in January 2022 and he has been linked heavily with a move to the Premier League.

And Kenny claims Celtic will act fast to snap up a new midfielder if Christie does indeed leave this summer.

“I think everyone wants to know where they stand,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“If he wants to leave then he’ll want that to go through quickly, and likewise with Celtic. It doesn’t do anyone any good to keep it up in the air.

“They are losing a good player and they are gonna have to replace him. If he does move on, you’d expect them to get one in as soon as possible.

“So they need to get that sorted one way or another so everybody can move forward and get on with their football.”

Christie missed Sunday’s 3-2 League Cup win over Hearts.

Postecoglou later revealed that the midfielder was suffering with a slight knock.
