McAvennie baffled as Ntcham-Celtic saga takes yet another 'weird' twist
The constantly-evolving transfer story surrounding Olivier Ntcham is baffling – but he could still do a good job for Celtic next season.
That is according to ex-Hoops hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest twists in the Ntcham saga.
This site revealed on 22nd May that Celtic had agreed to terminate the midfielder’s contract a year early.
But the Scottish Sun reported on 27th June that AEK Athens had pulled out of a move for the 25-year-old after claiming Celtic had changed their minds and now wanted a fee.
But three days later, the same outlet claimed that the move was back on and that the Greek side are willing to pay a fee.
Those developments came after Football Insider revealed on 10th June that Ntcham had agreed personal terms with AEK.

McAvennie admitted he was baffled by the situation.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “It’s weird. I can’t make any sense of it.
“Why would they do that and then all of a sudden ask for money. Maybe they’ve done that because Postecoglou wants to keep him.
“I like the boy, he’s a good player. Turnbull is a wonderful player, you’ve got McGregor there too, Forest will play out wide, so there is space for him there.
“He had a spell when he played with Scott Brown and Brown started scoring goals because Ntcham was covering his backside. It worked well.
“I think the boy’s got talent but I think he might have lost his way a little bit.
“But if nobody ends up taking him, then get him back on the pitch, back to sharpness and see what he can do. At the moment, they might need him.“
Ntcham spent the second half of 2020-21 on loan with Marseille in Ligue 1.
He made just six appearances in total and failed to complete 90 minutes in any of those.
