McAvennie impressed by Postecoglou as Celtic target Vuskovic drops transfer hint
Ange Postecoglou”knows what he wants” at Celtic and his reported pursuit of Mario Vuskovic could be good news for the club.
That is according to ex-Celtic goalscorer Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest twist in the Hoops’ reported interest in the 19-year-old centre-back.
Quoted by the Scottish Sun on 29th June, the Hadjuk Split man appeared to hint that he sees his future at the Croatian club next season.
“We just need to continue like this once the season starts,” he said after a 4-0 friendly win over Polish side Slask Wroclaw.
That comes after Croatian outlet Sprotske Novosti reported on 26th June that Celtic were close to agreeing a £5.16million deal for the defender who has three years remaining on his Split contract..
McAvennie insists that Celtic are in need of more quality in defence and that Vuskovic could be the man to deliver it if he is persuaded to sign.

“The manager has got to spend money,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.
“I look at the foreigners coming in, the two boys at West Ham from the Czech Republic [Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal], they have been absolutely superb.
“They’ve not got a problem with tackling or fighting for headers. Celtic need someone who can come in and say: ‘Right, that’s my ball’.
“I’ve never seen so many centre-halves not wanting to head it at Celtic. So if they can get it done, great. By all accounts, there are a few teams wanting him.
“The manager has been in isolation for a couple of weeks but he knows what he wants and he’s doing the right things.”
