Benjamin Nygren has reached out to Joel Mvuka on social media after the ex-Celtic loanee completed a move to Bodo/Glimt this week.

Celtic's summer transfer plans have accelerated in recent weeks after an initially quiet start to the window.

They have completed the signings of Kasper Hogh, Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur with the new season now well underway, while several players have also left Parkhead.

Arne Engels is the headline departure so far after his £22million switch to West Ham, while Daizen Maeda and several other Hoops men have also made an exit.

Mvuka's loan deal at the club ended in June, and it is fair to say that most Hoops fans were not moved by his departure in any way, shape or form.

The 23-year-old winger was signed to bolster Martin O'Neill's attacking ranks in the winter window, but failed to ever make an impression on his new manager.

Mvuka struggled for regular game time with Ligue 1 side Lorient in the first half of last season, leading Celtic to sign him on loan for the remainder of the campaign on deadline day in February.

The terms of their loan deal were revised to include a £3m option to buy clause, rather than an obligation, after some issues were flagged in his medical.

Mvuka made his Hoops debut in a 2-1 cup win against Dundee on 7 February, but was taken off at half-time after struggling to make an impact.

O'Neill insisted that he had "trained very well" at the start of March, but he continued to be excluded from Premiership matchday squads, with his only other cameo appearance coming in the FA Cup against Rangers.

Celtic unsurprisingly decided against triggering his buy clause at the end of the season, and he has now completed a return to his old club, Bodo/Glimt.

The Norway youth international took to Instagram to post a picture of him in their yellow home kit, which ex-teammate Nygren responded to with fire and two heart-eyes emojis.

Could Nygren leave Celtic before the window closes?

Nygren has attracted interest from across Europe after he registered 21 goals and nine assists in 58 games in his first season at Celtic.

He has started this season with three goals and assists each in as many appearances, but the club are looking to add more attacking options to their midfield after Football Insider revealed that Ermic Mahmic is on Celtic's radar.

Links to other clubs have not persisted late into the window, and the feeling is that Nygren will not leave now that Engels has departed Parkhead.
