Celtic are set to sign Champions League sensation Camilo Duran after an agreement was reached with his club Qarabag, sources have told Football Insider.

The Scottish giants have had a bid accepted that is worth up to £6million for the 24-year-old.

Duran is due in Glasgow this week to undergo his medical and sign his contract after provisionally agreeing personal terms.

Subject to the formalities being completed, he will be the Scottish Premiership champions’ first signing of the summer.

For many of the Celtic Park faithful, Duran will be a welcome addition to their frontline after their issues in front of goal last season.

Below, Football Insider has examined everything supporters need to know about the attacker ahead of his move.

Who is Camilo Duran?

After progressing through a series of academies, Duran finally made his first team debut at Lusitania in 2022, who were situated in Portugal’s fifth tier.

Here, he became an instant star and netted 19 times in 21 matches in all competitions, helping the club to win promotion.

This form helped win him a move to first-tier side Estrela da Amadora. However, a lack of opportunities saw him move back to Lusitania, where he helped the club win promotion to the third tier.

After he netted 31 goals in 39 matches at Lusitania, the 24-year-old was once again on the move, and this time signed for second-tier side Portimonense in 2024.

His time at Portimonense proved to be less fruitful, with the striker only netting five times in 28 matches as they narrowly avoided relegation to the third-tier.

As a result, he moved to Azerbaijan side Qarabag in 2025. Here, he was far more successful, and netted 15 times and picked up 10 assists in all competitions in 48 matches.

Five of these goals came in the Champions League as the club reached the knockout playoff round.

However, the club was not able to lift a trophy despite his form.

Fans will be hopeful that his good form in Azerbaijan will continue in Glasgow if the deal goes through.

Celtic fans will love what Chris Sutton had to say about ‘excellent’ Camilo Duran

How good is Duran?

Based solely on his Champions League stats from the 2025-26 campaign, Duran is a clinical and speedy striker.

According to Fotmob on 7 July, he averaged 0.60 goals, a 0.41 xG, 2.38 shots, 0.12 assists and a top speed of 33.7 kilometres an hour.

Therefore, if this can continue, it would not only give Celtic an excellent chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title once move, but also progress into the Champions League’s league phase next season.

However, it remains to be seen if the club are able to get the signing over the line in the next few days.
