The Hoops' UCL playoff capitulation against LASK has consigned them to a second successive UEL campaign, which gets underway this week.

They host Hungarian club Ferencvaros in the opening round of fixtures before facing the likes of Besiktas, Celta Vigo and Benfica.

Martin O'Neill's side need to bounce back from a damaging 3-0 derby defeat to Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup on Sunday.

The Hoops' attention will soon turn to another Old Firm fixture this weekend, and they have the chance to take some confidence into that clash against Ferencvaros.

How to watch Celtic vs Ferencvaros in the Europa League

Celtic finished 21st in the UEL league stage last season, with 11 points in eight games, before losing to Stuttgart in the knockout phase playoffs.

They have not progressed past the first knockout stage of any European competition since making the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 2004.

Ferencvaros finished second in the Hungarian top flight last season and have lost just one of their last 20 competitive outings.

They face Celtic at Parkhead this Thursday, 17 September, with kick-off set for 8pm.
