Hidden Gvidas Gineitis stat shows he's the perfect Celtic signing after source's reveal on new offer
Celtic target Gvidas Gineitis' knack of scoring important goals could make him an unsung hero if he moves to Parkhead this month.
Martin O'Neill and the Hoops' board are working feverishly behind the scenes to bolster their midfield ranks amid uncertainty over the futures of several stars.
Belgian midfielder Arne Engels is a priority target for West Ham, who are weighing up a £25million bid for his services as it stands.
Reo Hatate also looks likely to leave the club after struggling for regular minutes last season, potentially leaving O'Neill with a real lack of depth in the middle of the park.
Torino star Gineitis has emerged as a player of interest to the Glasgow giants, with Football Insider revealing they are submitting a second offer for his services in the coming days.
He would arrive as a key signing for Celtic in their quest for more silverware this season, and his past goals show that he could play a huge part in any success they may have.
Gvidas Gineitis' three Torino goals have each made a difference
Gineitis has featured 80 times for Torino since emerging into their first-team set-up in the 2022-23 season.
Each of his three goals at professional club level came in 2024-25, as he helped the club achieve an 11th-placed finish with a trio of key strikes.
The first came at fifth-placed Fiorentina in January of last year, with Gineitis pressing high and capitalising on a mistake to rescue a 1-1 draw for the visitors' 10-men in the 70th minute.
He then scored a 76th-minute winner against AC Milan in February, slamming home past Mike Maignan from a tight angle to make it 2-1 and hand Torino only a second win in 10 games.
Gineitis' last club goal to date was against Lazio just over a month later, with his 82nd-minute box-crashing strike denying the capital club all three points in another 1-1 draw.
Two of his five international strikes for Lithuania have also affected the final result, as he rescued a point against both Malta and Finland during their latest World Cup qualifying campaign.
He clearly has a penchant for scoring important goals when his team needs him most, and Celtic could do with some of that magic in predictably tight games this season.
What has Gineitis' agent said about Celtic move?
Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Celtic are ready to break their transfer record to sign Gineitis, with a £12m move in the offing.
His agent has revealed that the Hoops are in contact about a possible transfer, and the 22-year-old is open to discussing the move.
Speaking to CeltsAreHere on Monday, Dmitry Vinokurov said: "Yes, people from Celtic have been in contact with me, but there was no offer yet. I appreciate their effort and am ready to cooperate, but I also have to keep working on other options for Gvidas.
“This information started with saying that there had been an offer before and it was not good enough. That’s not true. Gvidas also appreciates the interest from such a big club and is ready to see the offer."
