'I've watched Kasper Hogh and this is what I think about his move to Celtic' - Scandinavian expert

Kasper Hogh will be a strong signing for Celtic and will ultimately prove to live up to the price tag.

That is the opinion of experienced former Everton, Tottenham and Aston Villa scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

The 25-year-old's arrival at Parkhead was confirmed this week after a fee worth more than £11million was agreed with Bodo/Glimt.

Hogh stole headlines in the Champions League last season when he scored a brace against Manchester City, before netting against Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Sporting CP.

The Denmark international scored five goals and provided three assists in the competition - a remarkable return.

Celtic's interest is not new, and a move in January had been considered before they were turned away by the fee.

Kasper Hogh verdict given

Hogh has also been enjoying a strong Eliteserien season for Bodo/Glimt, netting seven goals and providing four assists in 12 appearances.

Due to the extremely cold winters, the football season in Norway starts in March and will end in December.

The Dane had been on course for another superb campaign, after he scored 25 goals and provided eight assists across all competitions last season.

But he will now hope to take his talents to Scotland and lead the line for Martin O'Neill's defending champions.

The move will mark the first time Hogh has played for a team outside of Scandinavia since a brief loan to Finnish side Valur in 2020.

The forward has enjoyed stints in Denmark and Norway, bursting onto the scene following his move to Bodo/Glimt.

"I've just been watching a few Norwegian games. We were talking about the boy, Hogh. You know, Bodo/Glimt," King, who spent many years scouting in Scandinavia, told Football Insider.

"I see he signed for Celtic, £11m, wasn't it? I'll tell you he's a good buy, him. He'll be a good buy."

Hogh's stats promise strong Celtic form

In the 12 Eliteserien games Hogh featured in this season, he racked up seven goals from 8.22 expected goals and just one penalty.

While indicating some poorer finishing, it is more encouraging just how often the striker is able to get in a position to get good shots at goal away.

He created 15 chances and completed eight successful dribbles, but it is clear that Celtic have bought him for his ability to find the back of the net.

Hogh can certainly do that, and the Hoops will hope to see him reach new heights in Scotland.
