Kasper Hogh: How Danish media reacted to new Celtic hero's hat-trick vs Kilmarnock

Kasper Hogh is the new darling of the Celtic fans after netting a hattrick in Sunday's 5-1 win over Kilmarnock.

In just his second start for the club, the £11million signing from Bodo/Glimt put his goal-scoring prowess on full show and found the net three times in just 35 minutes of the first half.

Benjamin Nygren added a fourth before Luke McCowan capped off the scoring after Michael Schjonning-Larsen had got one back for the home side.

Hogh had faced criticism after his debut last week against Dundee FC, but has emphatically silenced all of the doubters.

The Denmark international represented a significant coup for Celtic this summer, having been on the radar of several sides in Europe.

The striker caught the eye in the Champions League for Bodo/Glimt last season, scoring against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

Danish media impressed by Kasper Hogh

Despite scoring more than a goal every other game for Bodo/Glimt - 54 in 103 appearances with 15 assists - Hogh is still a new face in international football.

The 25-year-old was handed his debut for the Denmark senior team in March, and scored an equaliser off the bench in the final of the World Cup qualification play-offs against Czechia.

He has been involved in every game since and displays like Sunday's will not hurt his chances of further caps.

While the Scottish Premiership does not carry the same type of recognition as the top five European leagues, Celtic are a massive club and undoubtedly well respected.

Writing about Hogh's hattrick, Danish outlet Tipsbladet said: "There are matches that are remembered better than others.

"Sunday's away match against Kilmarnock probably falls into that category for Celtic's Danish striker, Kasper Hogh."

In a similar sentiment, EkstraBladet wrote that "three goals in half an hour can convince most people."

"Thus, Kasper Hogh wakes up on Monday to headlines in Scotland, where he is being hailed after his hat trick for Celtic on Sunday, when Kilmarnock were run over 5-1," Hans-Henrik Hybholt Hare added.

None of Hogh's three goals massively stood out as having taken huge technical quality, instead they were born of intelligent striker's play.

The first goal saw the Dane peel off to the back post for an easy header, while he simply stuck to the penalty spot to finish off his second.

The third was perhaps the smartest, however. The striker appeared to faint towards the near post, sending his marker away before heading home round the back.

"That was a good feeling. But the most important thing is how we did as a team. That was a crazy-good game by the team," Hogh said after the game.
