Celtic have agreed a deal to sign teenage Chelsea striker Shim Mheuka on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 18-year-old is travelling to Glasgow for a medical ahead of what is set to be his first senior loan spell.

Mheuka has also signed a new seven-year Chelsea contract until 2033, proving that his parent club rate him highly.

The Hoops are active in the market as their search for more depth in several positions ramps up in the last few days of the transfer window.

Clubs in Scotland have until 5pm on Thursday, 3 September to conclude their business for the summer, yet the closure of the English window on Tuesday is accelerating their plans.

Mheuka has scored goals for fun at various youth levels for Chelsea, but is yet to truly test himself in the senior game at just 18-years-old.

The Birmingham-born striker joined Chelsea's youth set-up as a 14-year-old in 2022 after leaving Brighton's academy.

He was instantly trusted in their under-18 side, despite his age, and has continued to prove himself as one of the most exciting young talents coming through the Blues' ranks.

Mheuka made his senior debut for Chelsea in December 2024 as they took on Astana in the Conference League, then featured in the Premier League for the first time in February 2025 against Southampton.

He became the youngest player to ever start a European game for Chelsea against Copenhagen a month later, then made four first-team appearances last season too.

Mheuka mainly figured for their under-21 side in Premier League 2 last season, and bagged 18 goals in 19 games to help them win the league, while he was also handed the division's official Player of the Season award.

He will now join Celtic for this season and is set compete for places in attack with the likes of Kasper Hogh, Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran.

Celtic make move to sign Crystal Palace star Justin Devenny - 'The perfect deal'

Celtic pushing to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Justin Devenny

Celtic do not want to stop at Mheuka when it comes to late raids of Premier League clubs in the capital.

Sources have exclusively revealed to Football Insider that the Hoops are keen on signing Palace youngster Devenny, who is not in Pierre Sage's plans for this season.

Devenny, 22, is a central midfielder by trade but can play across the middle of the park and at wing-back, while he is a full Northern Ireland international.

He made 32 appearances for the Eagles last season, but has failed to even make the matchday squad for a competitive game so far this term.
