Sean Dyche will seriously consider becoming the next Celtic manager if an offer is tabled, sources have told Football Insider.

Martin O'Neill is expected to see out his contract until the end of the season as things stand, but pressure on the manager's position has grown as a result of recent performances.

Fans made their feelings towards the boss clear after the 1-0 defeat to Rangers, and that has forced the board to begin considering their options behind the scenes.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, Dyche has been waiting for the right project to tempt him, and the Cetic job could appeal.

Despite the Celtic board having thrown their weight behind O'Neill in recent weeks, plans are being put in place behind the scenes in case they are forced to pull the trigger.

Dyche would be seen as a leading candidate for the role given his wealth of top-level experience, and is believed to be interested in the opportunity to land what is a huge job.

Why are Celtic being linked with a move for Sean Dyche?

Football Insider revealed on 21 September that Celtic will look to bring in a manager with vast experience at top-level clubs if they are forced to replace O'Neill.

No changes are expected to take place in the immediate future, but after the boss confessed he could walk away, and with growing pressure from the fans, they could be forced into one.

Dyche is being lined up as a potential candidate in case they do pull the trigger, and there is a feeling an offer from Celtic would have a good chance of luring him in.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Sean Dyche has been out of work for a little while now as well, and I'm told he is keen to get back in at some point.

"Celtic is a huge club, as we know. If Celtic were to come knocking for Sean Dyche, it's a job that that he would give serious consideration to.

"There's nothing going on at the minute with that one obviously Martin O'Neill continues to enjoy the complete support of the Celtic board.

"But look, Sean Dyche is a viable candidate for any job that becomes available because of his brilliant experience that he's got from his time in the Premier League."

Could Dyche make a return to management soon?

Celtic are the most recent club to consider a move for Dyche, seven months after his last role with Nottingham Forest, where he was sacked after just 114 days.

He has been linked with a number of clubs in the Championship and the Premier League, but so far has failed to find a project which has tempted him back into the game.

However, Football Insider revealed on 2 October that Dyche is now eyeing a return to management with a number of potential opportunities emerging in England and Scotland.

The Celtic job is not the only one which could soon become available, as things are expected to hot up following the return to club football after the international break.

Slow starts to the season at both Fulham and Crystal Palace, for example, have led to speculation about the futures of Alvaro Arbeloa and Pierre Sage respectively.
