Celtic are surely regretting Elijah Just blunder after what he has just done for Swansea City

Celtic's former target and Motherwell ace Elijah Just has already got off to a goalscoring start at Swansea City after an impressive debut.

The New Zealand international came off the bench against Udinese at half-time and netted a late goal as the Welsh club won 2-0 in their friendly tie.

Just completed his move to Swansea on Wednesday for a reported £5million fee, which was a record departure for the Steelmen.

The 26-year-old attacker was heavily linked with a switch to the Hoops throughout the summer transfer window after an impressive Scottish Premiership campaign.

This form then continued in the 2026 World Cup, with the winger netting three times in three appearances.

Now, with this goalscoring streak continuing against an impressive Serie A side, the Hoops are surely regretting not making a move.

Elijah Just continues to impress at Swansea

As the 2025-26 campaign drew to a close, Just looked like an ideal Celtic signing.

The winger netted seven times and picked up seven assists in the Scottish Premiership, and helped Motherwell qualify for Europe.

With Celtic in need of attacking reinforcements, Just seemed like a natural signing.

However, as with every recent transfer window, the Hoops were slow to get going, and eventually missed out on the New Zealand international to Swansea.

Now, this appears to be a massive blunder, and after his debut goal for the Swans, Celtic are surely already regretting missing out.

The Hoops could have easily beaten Swansea to the attacker thanks to the lure of Champions League football, but their inability to be proactive in the summer window has once again come back to haunt them.

Who else are Celtic linked to?

In recent days, Celtic have been heavily linked to Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh.

The two clubs are believed to be in talks over a potential deal for the attacker, who impressed in last season’s Champions League.

Hogh could prove to be a replacement for Daizen Maeda, who is set to leave for Ipswich Town for £10m in the coming days.

However, it remains to be seen if the Hoops get a deal over the line for Hogh, with plenty of twists and turns still expected in the summer transfer window.
