Celtic hit by 'massive unrest' after two deals collapse - Keith Wyness
Celtic are facing "massive unrest" among the fanbase due to their ongoing struggles in this summer's transfer market.
That is according to former Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that there is "cause for concern" regarding their summer business.
The Bhoys recently lost out to Bursaspor in a deal for Kelechi Iheanacho, while Marcelo Saracchi revealed that he will not be returning to Celtic Park, despite the club's best efforts to keep him.
Wyness believes that the club are "trying to be clever" and save on wages, and he has also questioned the level of influence that Martin O'Neill has.
Camilo Duran remains the Glasgow giants' only summer signing, and the team are now less than two weeks away from returning to Scottish Premiership action.
A major overhaul had been promised at Parkhead for several months, but the club hierarchy simply haven't been able to make that a reality.
Celtic board slammed for Kelechi Iheanacho failure
Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that Celtic have "no excuse" for the manner in which they lost out on Iheanacho.
The club allowed their automatic option to extend his previous deal to expire, before trying and ultimately failing to bring him back once he became a free agent.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness made it clear that the hierarchy only have themselves to blame in this instance.
"I think there is cause for concern. I've already seen statements coming out from the supporters' trust and the different groups already. There's massive unrest at Celtic Park," he said.
"With Iheanacho, they had an option on him, and that's something that there's no excuse for, if you wanted to have him; you could have taken up the option. So that was weird that it didn't happen.
"I thought that Martin O'Neill would have Dermot Desmond's ear and that would get things done, but really it's not good. I know Celtic are trying to be clever in terms of saving wages, but you've got to get players in early, particularly when you've got those European fixtures.
"It's a very unhappy place right now, so I'm keeping my eyes on that, but the board aren't helping themselves at all."
Celtic make fresh contact for Kasper Hogh
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Celtic have made fresh contact with Bodo/Glimt over a possible deal for their striker Kasper Hogh.
The Hoops were heavily linked with a move for the 25-year-old back in January and have now reignited their interest as they bid to strengthen their attack.
Hogh netted 25 goals for the Norwegian side in all competitions last season, and already has seven strikes from just 12 games in the Eliteserien this summer.
The Danish frontman has been a long-term target for Celtic in recent years, and they are now ready to try and land him once again.
