Celtic fans all say the same thing about Greg Taylor rejoining the club

Celtic fans are adamant that they do not want Greg Taylor to be re-signed by the club this summer.

Reports have emerged that the 28-year-old left-back is on the Hoops’ transfer list for a possible comeback this transfer window.

The defender is not in PAOK’s plans for the 2026-27 campaign, and he will not be on the roster after the second match of Europa League qualification.

However, Celtic fans have made it clear that they do not want the Scotland international to make his return to Parkhead anytime soon.

Taylor left the Old Firm club last summer after his contract expired, a decision that was partly due to the return of Kieran Tierney.

Over the course of his career in Glasgow, he made 216 appearances for Celtic, netted nine goals and won 11 major trophies.

Celtic fans do not want to see Greg Taylor return 

Celtic are clearly in need of a left-back this summer.

Martin O’Neill is keen on a competitive backup for Tierney ahead of the new season, with the club linked to numerous players.

Marcelo Saracchi was heavily linked with a move to the Hoops after his successful loan spell last season, but the club has decided to move on to other targets.

Therefore, when it was reported by George Tsarouchas that Taylor was being considered by Celtic, fans were not happy.

Many took to X to complain about his potential return, arguing that Saracchi would have been a far better option than the Scotland international.

How good was Taylor in Greece last season?

According to Fotmob on 27 July, Taylor was solid in the Greek Super League last season.

The defender was solid going forward and averaged 1.77 touches in the opposition box, 1.77 fouls won, 2.33 accurate long balls, and 0.47 clean sheets per 90 minutes.

However, he also averaged just 0.65 tackles, 0.47 interceptions, a 16.7 per cent dribble success rate and 3.36 duels won per 90 minutes.

Therefore, re-signing Taylor this summer could prove to be a risk for Celtic, as the defender clearly lacks consistency going forward as well as defending.

However, it remains to be seen if the Hoops go on to sign the left-back over the coming months.
