Celtic fans are baffled after flop signing Michel-Ange Balikwisha was listed among three players West Ham United are interested in signing from the Hoops this summer.

Reports have emerged that the Hammers are targeting Arne Engels, Reo Hatate and Balikwisha ahead of their return to the Championship.

While the former two stars have been crucial players to Celtic in recent years, the latter has been a tremendous failure.

Signing in August 2025 for £5million from Royal Antwerp, the winger heavily struggled and only made 14 appearances for the Hoops before he was dropped from the matchday squad altogether at the backend of the last campaign.

As a result, when the report emerged that West Ham were interested in signing the 25-year-old, the Celtic Park faithful were overjoyed.

Balikwisha is yet to score a goal for the Old Firm side since his arrival, and has only picked up one assist.

Celtic fans want West Ham to sign Michel-Ange Balikwisha

Despite Celtic winning a domestic double last season, exits are expected at Martin O’Neill’s side.

Therefore, when Hammers News reported that three Celtic stars were wanted by West Ham, it would have come as little surprise to the fanbase.

However, when it was revealed that Balikwisha was among the names being targeted, it came as a shock to many supporters.

As a result, multiple fans took to X, baffled by the fact that West Ham want the winger, with some claiming they’d give him a lift down to the London Stadium themselves.

Who else could leave Celtic this summer?

Another player who looks increasingly likely to leave Celtic this summer is Daizen Maeda.

The striker is now into the last 12 months of his contract, and the Hoops are ready to cash in on the Japan international.

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Everton and Nottingham Forest are battling to sign Maeda this summer.

It is believed to be an open race for the 28-year-old, with Fulham and Brentford also interested.

The striker was crucial to Celtic lifting the double last season as he notched 17 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

However, it remains to be seen where Maeda will end up this summer transfer window, as O’Neill faces a squad overhaul at the club.
