Celtic have recently been linked with Jari De Busser ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Go Ahead Eagles goalkeeper is viewed by the Parkhead bosses as a potential replacement for Kasper Schmeichel, who announced his retirement on Wednesday.

Now, the Hoops have received a massive boost in their pursuit after De Busser made his exit intentions clear this summer.

Speaking to VI, the 26-year-old made it clear that he wants to take the next step in his career and move on from the Dutch club, with the Hoops making tentative enquiries according to the Daily Record.

Celtic could now secure a bargain, with the goalkeeper only valued at around £1.25million as he enters the final year of his contract.

Jari De Busser: I want to take the next step in my career

De Busser is no doubt a top goalkeeper and could soon become Celtic’s first choice ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

The Go Ahead Eagles star kept nine clean sheets in the league this season, while also putting in numerous top performances towards the end of the campaign.

He also played a key role in their Europa League journey, as they narrowly missed out on the knockout stages, with the star helping to oversee memorable victories over the likes of Aston Villa, who would go on to win the competition.

After achieving a 12th-place finish with the club, he has now confirmed that he is looking to depart Go Ahead Eagles this summer.

He told VI: "The plan is for me to take the next step.

"I have said it before, and it is also being done in consultation with the club.

"They are aware of the situation, and we discussed it before this season. But well, a club has to come forward first."

Who else could Celtic sign?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Celtic are also chasing Dundee FC goalkeeper Jon McCracken this summer transfer window.

The Bhoys are desperate to add further quality to their goalkeeping department ahead of next season, and it is understood that the 26-year-old is among a number of candidates that they are assessing.

McCracken is currently set to become a free agent in the summer when his contract expires, but reports suggest that Dundee are hopeful of renewing his deal.

As a result, Celtic could be on track to seal a potential bargain after what has been an impressive season for the 26-year-old

The goalkeeper proved to be crucial this campaign in ensuring the Dark Blues remained in the Scottish Premiership and were not dragged towards the relegation zones.
