Celtic working 'tirelessly' to complete Dinko Horkas deal - report

Celtic are now accelerating their efforts to finalise a deal for Las Palmas's number one goalkeeper Dinko Horkas this summer transfer window.

The Hoops are working “tirelessly” to agree on the best possible deal for all parties for the 27-year-old.

This comes amid reports that a Saudi club has entered the race for the goalkeeper, which has forced Celtic to speed up their efforts.

Horkas has emerged as one of the Old Firm clubs’ top targets to reinforce their goalkeeping department this summer.

This comes after Kasper Schmeichel departed Celtic Park at the end of the 2025-26 campaign, leaving the club light on goalkeepers.

Viljami Sinisalo featured as the number one towards the end of the last season. However, a new number one is still expected at the club.

Celtic forced to speed up efforts to sign Dinko Horkas  

Horkas has been linked to Celtic throughout the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper impressed at Las Palmas last season as the club lost in the playoffs in the Spanish second tier.

Now, according to La Provincia on 24 July, talks have intensified between Celtic and the Spanish outfit over Horkas.

Las Palmas are in a strong position, and do not need to sell the goalkeeper this summer.

However, the emergence of a Saudi side has forced Celtic to speed up their negotiations, or they risk missing out on their potential Schmeichel replacement.

How good is Horkas?

According to Fotmob on 24 July, Horkas had an excellent 2025-26 campaign, with many of his stats no doubt attracting the interest of Celtic.

Overall, he had a save percentage of 72.1, prevented 3.72 goals, kept 13 clean sheets, conceded just 39 goals and even saved a penalty in the Spanish second tier.

As a result, the stats indicate that he could be an excellent buy for Celtic if they can get a deal over the line.

The goalkeeping department was a huge issue for the Hoops and Martin O’Neill last season, and mistakes between the sticks almost cost them the Scottish Premiership title.

Therefore, the club will be hoping that Horkas can solve this issue once and for all as they look to cement themselves as the dominant team in Scotland once more.
