Celtic have been pursuing a move for rising star Bobby Clark this summer, but these transfer hopes could now be all but over.

It was previously reported that both Old Firm clubs were battling for the 21-year-old’s signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

Red Bull Salzburg were happy to let him go for a price-cut fee after his successful loan spell at Derby County this season.

However, with Danny Rohl now set to make a move to the Austrian club in the coming days, this will surely end Celtic’s hopes of securing Clark.

It seems incredibly unlikely that the manager will be open to selling the former Liverpool star, considering he has been a key target for the Gers in recent weeks.

Clark made 42 appearances in the Championship this season as Derby narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

Celtic’s Bobby Clark transfer plans surely over

Clark would no doubt be a great signing for Celtic if they are able to get a deal over the line.

At 21 years old, he still has a lot of time to develop further and could have helped form a new-look Hoops midfield for the 2026-27 campaign.

However, considering Rangers’ interest in Clark, it seems likely that Rohl will give him a chance in the first team in the 2026-27 season.

The Scottish Sun has reported that Rohl’s move to Red Bull Salzburg is set to be officially rubber-stamped on Saturday, which should now end Celtic’s hope of securing Clark.

Who else could Celtic sign?

Reports have also emerged that Celtic are pursuing a deal for Milan Vitalis this summer transfer window.

The midfielder won the Nemzeti Bajnoksag I this campaign with ETO FC Gyor as they pipped Robbie Keane’s Ferencvaros to the title.

The Hungarian international had a stellar campaign, with the 24-year-old scoring 10 times and picking up six assists in 41 matches.

If the Hoops are to miss out on Clark, their main focus could now shift towards Vitalis as they look to overhaul their midfield this summer.

Multiple players at Celtic are reportedly heading for the exit door as Martin O’Neill looks to form another title-winning squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
