Kasper Hogh becomes 'Celtic's top earner', this is what he's earning
Celtic's move to sign striker Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt shows the disparity between the Scottish Premiership and the Premier League.
That is according to former Aberdeen and Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the 25-year-old will have immediately become one of the highest earners at Celtic Park.
The Bhoys announced the Dane's arrival for a club record fee earlier this week, after paying Bodo/Glimt £11million plus add-ons.
Wyness indicated that he is "surprised" that Celtic have been able to sign the frontman, and instead expected him to move to the Premier League or the Championship.
Hogh netted 25 goals in all competitions last term, and was an integral part of his team's shock run to the last 16 of the Champions League.
The striker scored against Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Sporting during that adventure, a run of form that truly put his name in lights.
Keith Wyness reveals Kasper Hogh's wages
Aberdeen's former chief Wyness - who served as CEO at Pittodrie between 2000 and 2004 and now runs a consultancy business advising elite clubs - believes that Hogh will be earning up to £35,000 per week at Parkhead.
The new man has penned an initial four-year contract with the Bhoys, and it is expected that the lucrative transfer fee will come with a big pay packet as well.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness explained that Hogh will slot in right alongside the club's top earners.
"Look, I think he's going to be in the Celtic high earner range, which, believe it or not, is only about £25,000 to £35,000-a-week," he said.
"That shows you the disparity between Scottish football and the Premier League in that Celtic, one of the top, top clubs, have one of their top, top signings coming in for about £35,000-a-week.
"He's a great signing. I think he's a very exciting signing, and I think he's exactly what Celtic should be doing, getting those younger players in and hoping to sell them on.
"Celtic have done very well to get him there. I'm surprised he didn't actually move directly into England, either in the Championship or the Premier League, because with 25 goals and Bodo Glint's experience in the Champions League, I thought that would have made him attractive."
Scandinavian expert shares take on Hogh deal
Former Tottenham and Aston Villa scout Bryan King told Football Insider earlier this week that Hogh will undoubtedly repay Celtic's investment.
The ex-recruitment man spent many years scouting in Scandinavia, and has watched Hogh in action several times in recent years.
King is adamant that Hogh will be a "good buy" for the Bhoys, given the form that he has displayed in the Eliteserien.
The striker has been a prolific goalscorer in Norway in recent years, and Martin O'Neill will be hoping to see that translate into success in Glasgow.
